New Casino Resort to be Integrated in the Philippines
A new integrated resort will soon meet the visitors in the Philippines. Atkins is appointed by Widus Hotel & Casino to transform the property in the Clark Freeport Zone into a fully integrated resort and leisure destination.
Bertil de Kleynen, Atkins’ director for property sector in Asia Pacific, said the company has developed projects from the Burj Al Arab in Dubai to the Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City. "We are proud to bring our expertise to the Philippines market and help Widus realise their goals.”
The scope of the extension includes a new casino, a hotel tower, retail, dining and a waterpark development. At the heart of the development will be the main gaming area, designed to attract guests from around the property due to its ease of access from areas such as the grand entrance, hotels and the new retail areas.
According to the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), in 2016 the Philippine gaming industry has seen continuous growth, and recorded P149.12 billion in gross gaming revenues (GGR) from table games, slot machines, electronic games and other gaming offerings, including licensed fees from privately owned integrated resort (IR) operations. This amount is P23.76 billion higher than the P125.36 billion gross gaming revenues in 2015.
